NORTH WEST LOCHABER HANDICRAFT SHOW

 2025 SCHEDULE and RULES


              SECTION 1  HANDICRAFTS
Softcraft
Class 1. Sewn item of clothing
Class 2. Knitted or crocheted child’s cardigan 
Class 3. Knitted or crocheted adult jumper  
Class 4. Hand crafted cushion—sewn, knitted or crocheted
Class 5. Handstitched item (cross stitch, embroidery, tapestry, etc)
Class 6. Child’s soft toy
Class 7. Wet or needle felted item
Class 8.  Blanket, throw, quilt
Class 9.  Bag for Life (bag to save using carriers)
Class 10. Something reusable, repurposed, upcycled, which would otherwise be disposable, e.g face wipes, bowl covering, etc.

Class 23. Jar of marmalade
Class 24. Jar of chutney
Class 25. Jar of a jelly preserve
Class 26. Bottle of Home brewed beer
Class 27. Bottle of cordial/juice
Class 28. Bottle of infused gin
Jars may be presented with either jam pot covers or metal covers
  Classes 18, 19, 20 and 21 should be covered

SECTION 4 – CHILDREN’S COMPETITIONS
 
Onc entry per child, but they can choose which class
Please state age group on entry form: Nursery, P1-3, P4-7
Class 29. Wooden spoon character
Class 30. Collage/model using recycled/upcycled/repurposed items, themed on local environment/wildlife, with a footprint no larger than A4 sheet of paper
Class 31. A reusable, repurposed, or upcycled item, which would otherwise be disposable, e.g face wipes, bowl covering, etc.
Class 32. Poster on a theme to encourage improved environment/recycling.
Children can enter any adult class but £1 entry fee will be charged.
Entries will be judged per child, not per school, so independent entries can be accepted.
We cannot collect or return any entries

RULES OF ENTRY

· All exhibits to be brought to the Astley Hall between 9.00 and 10.45 a.m. on Saturday 21st June 2025.
· No late entries will be accepted.
· There is an entry fee of £1 per exhibit.
   Exhibits by children under 12 free.
· All exhibits must be the Competitor’s own unaided work.
· All exhibits must be completed within 12 months of the Show.
· Entrants must live in the area covered by the Show - Lochailort, Arisaig, Morar, Mallaig, the Small Isles, Knoydart, Lochailort, Roshven, Glenuig, Acharacle, Strontian, Kilchoan & Lochaline  - for at least six weeks (non consecutive) in the 12 months prior to the Show.
· The Competition Label (provided on the day) must be attached to each exhibit showing the Entrant’s name and the Section and Class Number as indicated in the Schedule.
· Main Hall to be cleared by 11am for judging 11am -1pm 
· The Judges shall award prize certificates to winners in each class – 1st, 2nd & 3rd.
· The decisions of the Judges are final.
· All Competition Labels will be opened after judging.
· Entries available for removal from 4pm to 5pm on Sunday.  All entries must be collected. Any items left will be disposed of.
· The committee will not undertake the return of exhibits.
· The Handicrafts Show Committee will not be responsible for lost or damaged exhibits.
· The Presentation of Trophies will be held in the Astley Hall at 3.30pm on Saturday 21st June.
