Fanny Lumsden & the Prawnstars
Lewis McLaughlin
Friday 1st August 2025
Tickets £20 from www.feis-na-mara.com   Under 10s free
2x ARIA and 9x CMAA Golden Guitar winner Fanny Lumsden’s shows are one of a kind. An all-in affair, where joy and exuberance meet intimate storytelling, delivered with wit, warmth & luscious harmonies. Alongside her band The Prawn Stars, Fanny has “established herself as one of the genre's most esteemed performers” (The Australian), honing her craft in hundreds of halls on her annual ‘Country Halls Tour’, all the way to her first UK show; a packed-out Avalon Stage at Glastonbury. The band enjoyed a fantastic gig in Mallaig last year, this year they look set to completely sell out the Astley Hall in Arisaig for what will be an incredible night of wholesome revelry!  Full licensed bar by Fèis na Mara.
LEWIS MCLAUGHLIN
McLaughlin began writing songs in secret at the age of 14. After honing his craft through intimate pub gigs and local performances in Edinburgh, he made the leap to Glasgow, where he collaborated with Andy Monaghan of Frightened Rabbit fame on his debut album. Released in 2022, the album garnered widespread acclaim and set the stage for McLaughlin's meteoric rise in the indie music scene.
Now based in Glasgow, and working again with long term collaborator Monaghan, Lewis ventures into uncharted sonic territories, crafting a daring and audacious soundscape that remains true to his introspective and narrative-driven songwriting style.
With "A Hope In Fear," McLaughlin delves deeper into themes of self-discovery and resilience. The album serves as a testament to his personal journey of overcoming fear and embracing new beginnings. From the anthemic energy of "Pressure" to the romantic balladry of "Autumn," each track offers a glimpse into McLaughlin's evolving narrative.
From the atmospheric textures of "Burnin’ True" to the infectious hooks of "Getting Better," the album deftly navigates the spectrum of human emotion with authenticity and grace.
"Folk edged Paolo Nutini for a fresher generation... masterful songwriting, acoustic folk to take you floating away on a cloud," raves the BBC’s Phoebe IH. Already high praise from the likes of Chris Martin and George Ezra, this record will cement Lewis’ voice as a songwriter for his generation.

A welcome return for our favourite Scottish/Danish duo, The Quiggs,  aka Stephen and Pernille. They share a common feeling for the tradition of folk song, and the fantastic playing and singing of ex-McCalman Stephen and the angelic singing of Pernille make for a lovely night out!
